Pope Francis called for peace in Sudan following the crackdown of the proters by security forces in Khartoum last week.
“The news coming from Sudan is giving rise to pain and concern. We pray for these people, so that the violence ceases and the common good is sought in the dialogue,” he addressed the crowd in St Peter’s Square.
Apparently, opposition medics say that 113 people were killed in the crackdown while the government states that the death toll is 61.
Opposition groups in Sudan urged workers to say home, for a campaign called of ‘civil disobedience’ to hand power to civilians.
