European Nations Are Not Interested In A No-Deal Brexit

Jean-Claude Juncker at the EPP Summit Brussels

European Union is warning Boris Johnson that a no-deal Brexit could become a reality unless his government does something to make it concrete. This was communicated by European Commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker told the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

Juncker further said elaborated that this reality might be the choice of the United Kingdom but will never be the choice of the European Union.  It is clear that the European Union wants certain conditions to be met before the exit actually happens as scheduled for October 31.

It is being seen that Britain has failed to offer viable solutions to rewrite a withdrawal agreement struck by Johnson’s predecessor but rejected three times by the British parliament.

With nothing happened so far, it will not be a surprise that the European Parliament has asked for another Brexit delay. The decision on whether to grant an extension, however, is really up to the leaders of the other 27 EU member countries. They are to hold a Brussels summit on October 17-18, seen as the last chance to strike a deal.

Political analysts are preempting that Britain is unlikely to present a complete set of detailed, written proposals of how it would want the text of the existing – but stalled – Brexit deal changed before the end of the month.

“If that is the case, the summit will end with nothing,” an EU diplomat dealing with Brexit in Brussels shared with the media. “If there is to be a deal, it must be prepared to a large extent in advance. It is too technical to leave to the leaders at the last minute.”
