Fiona Hill Comes Out In The Open Over Ukraine Controversy Surrounding Trump

Fiona Hill

Fiona Hill has become the latest official from Trump’s administration to have come forward to testify against the ongoing impeachment investigations against the United State’s President Donald Trump.

The former Russia advisor has also served on the National Security Council, Hill was known for being a critique of Vladimir Putin, something that had served Trump’s purpose well. But like most officials who were shuffled too often under Trump’s presidency term, Hill gave away her position in August 2019. She had joined in March 2017.

It was earlier reported, that while serving as a top Russian advisor, she was witness to how Trump had gone all out to share classified information he had received from Israel with Russia’s foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, and its top diplomat, who had been invited to the oval office, drawing criticism from many in the foreign policy community.

In her nine hour testimony, Hill mentioned how alarmed at the way the Trump administration was going out of its way, to put pressure on the Ukrainian government to dig out controversy against Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden.  She also mentioned that along with some other White House officials, they had raised their concerns with a White House lawyer.

Elaborating, Hill disclosed how Bolton had instructed her to sound the NSC lawyer John Eisenberg of a possible investigation being implicated against Joe Biden and Hunter Biden.

While Joe Biden is a promising future Democrat contesting for the forthcoming elections, Hunter has been financially associated with Ukrainian companies. Trump was pushing for corruption and malpractice allegations against the father son Biden duo.

His arm twisting tactics have called for an impeachment inquiry by the Democrats. Hill has testified in front of three House panels where she has detailed a July 10 meeting she attended with senior Ukrainian officials, then-National Security Adviser John Bolton, and other U.S. officials in which the U.S. ambassador to the European Union, Gordon Sondland, raised the issue of the investigations, the people said.

Hill also commented how she found efforts made by Trump’s lawyer Rudolph W. Giuliani were all out of line. He was literally trying to “circumvent typical government procedures for foreign policy, to press Ukraine to mount investigations into the Bidens, as well as possible 2016 election interference.”  Fiona Hill is the second woman official to have been asked to testify along with Marie Yovanovitch, the former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, and Kurt Volker, the former U.S. envoy for Ukraine negotiations, in recent weeks.

While her effort has been applauded by the House of Committees, it is worth noting that she was officially subpoenaed for a hearing and could have felt a sense of reluctance to come out in the open.
