Libya: ISIS claims deadly attack on HAFTAR camps

A Libyan National Army  camp, under Marshal Khalifa Haftar in Sebha, southern Libya, was attacked on Saturday (May 4th).

…the attack was claimed by ISIS.

The headquarters of the military training center in Sebha was the target of a dawn terror attack by ISIS, supported by criminal groups and mercenaries,Mayor of the city, Hamed al-Khayali told the press yesterday, The Libyan official also said that a prison where individuals suspected of serious crimes and terrorism were jailed , has been attacked.

About 200 detainees managed to escape including individuals belonging to the Daesh terrorist organization arrested in the south of the country.

“The attack killed at least nine people, some of whom were killed and others shot,” he said.

A spokesman for the Sebha Medical Center (CMS), Osama al-Wafi, confirmed the report to the press.

At midday, the attack was claimed by ISIS ,stating that  they “killed and wounded” 16 people.

the target was the battalion 106, headquarters in the Libyan town of Sebha.

Sebha, capital of the province of the same name, which is located 700 km south of Tripoli, is controlled by the Libyan National Army  under the command of Marshal Khalifa Haftar.

Libya has been in chaos since the overthrow of the government and the murder of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011. The country is divided between several rival entities, including the presence in Tripoli of the National Unity Government of Fayez el-Sarraj, supported by the UN and the EU, and in the east, a parliament elected by the people and supported by the Libyan National Army of Marshal Haftar.
