Qatari to reach the interaction of public opinion in Morocco against the deal of the century

The cooperation between Morocco and Qatar has witnessed a remarkable development in recent years. The relations between the two countries have been enhanced by mutual visits, the signing of agreements and protocols of cooperation and the implementation of development projects starting from 2015. The emir funded many projects in the north-African country as the contribution of the Qatar Fund for Development to financing the construction of a university hospital in the north of the Kingdom worth $300 million.

This generosity is clearly an umbrella to influence Moroccan policies and expand the influence of the Muslim Brotherhood in the region. After many media sources in Tel Aviv stated that the Israeli government had offered Morocco a political deal in partnership with the US administration, according to which Morocco would obtain recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara in exchange for the normalization of Moroccan-Israeli relations, three Moroccan associations linked to Qatar called for a sit-in in front of parliament on Friday to protest efforts to pass the US’ “deal of the century” on the settlement of the Palestinian issue.

In a joint statement, the National Action Group for Palestine, the Moroccan Association for the Support of the Palestinian Struggle and the Moroccan Commission for the Support of the Nation’s Issues said that the stand will be organised under the slogan “the option of resistance and confrontation of normalisation”. The stand – the joint statement said – comes in the context of the Zionist-American attack on the peoples of the Arab Islamic nation, adding that it was also an effort to confront steps to eliminate the Palestinian cause and impose the so-called deal of the century. Qatar linked groups also used social media platforms and prepaid news to reach the interaction of public opinion against the deal of the century between Israel and Palestine. Qatar Government was very unhappy with the gap between Morocco’s promises and the results so far, along with Israeli advertising relations with Rabat for his own political purposes.

It must be said that Qatar is one of Hamas’s main allies. In 2012, then-Qatari Emir Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani became the first head of state to visit the Gaza Strip after Hamas violently took control of the coastal enclave from the Palestinian Authority (PA) in 2007. In a recent interview, Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani said Qatar supports “all Palestinian people. We believe Hamas is a very important part of the Palestinian people.” Al-Thani also said that Hamas leaders “believe in peace and they want peace. But it’s for the other party to believe in peace as well and to be more realistic”.
