Senate Accuses Democrats Of Wasting Time

After three days of Democrats putting up their argument to remove the American president from the seat of power, Trump’s defense team proved it otherwise. Taking up only two hours of the time in the impeachment proceedings, they could argue that the president’s actions were actually in national interest and that Democrats’ investigation was politically motivated.

As he opened the session, the White House counsel  Pat Cipollone told senators that it was the demand of the Democrats  to not only “overturn the results of the last election but to also to remove President Trump from the ballot in an election that’s occurring in approximately nine months.”

There is literally a zero chance of any kind of conviction under the Republican led Senate the only other thing left is to ensure that the number of witnesses and testimonies to be presented against Trump is limited.  The weekend session went into scrutinizing Trump’s call with the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in which Trump is said to have asked Zelensky to investigate Joe Biden and his son Hunter.

In their defense, Trump’s legal team said that nowhere in the script does this   explain explicitly or that he had conditioned aid on the investigations, and that Mr. Zelensky did repeatedly agreed with the president on the call. The lawyers also noted Mr. Zelensky’s public statements that he didn’t feel pressured by Mr. Trump.

The defense team could be seen twisting and rewording the script to suit their needs. Additionally, the Democrats said they had noted that the White House had indeed blocked from testifying officials who would have direct knowledge of the relationship between the frozen aid and the push for investigations. White House is going to use an opportune time to present itself. It has chosen Monday Tuesday when viewership is better via television telecast. White House did not say anything on the week before.  Right now, four Republicans would need to join all 47 Democratic senators to pass a motion in favor of hearing more testimony from witnesses. But the Saturday session might not get any votes for presentation of crucial witness evidence that could prove that Trump had actually used a pressure tactic on Ukraine to meet his personal vendetta, for which he later withheld aid money sanctioned previously by the Congress.
