After having boasted about his great achievements in bolstering the US economy at the World Economic Forum recently, the US President has now indicated his intentions of misbalancing trade equations with the UK and Europe too.

Having already created a slum in the world economy due to his self-created trade war with Beijing, he has now out to pick a fight with two other nations. Mr. Donald Trump has shifted his focus to India, a post-Brexit Britain and some parts of Europe too. Sanctions and tariff imposition is again on his agenda before anything comes off his impeachment trial and he steps into the arena for a re-election in 2020.

As far as the European Union goes, Washington remains at odds with it over aircraft subsidies, trade barriers, and plans by European countries to impose taxes on digital services.

As usual, Trump is planning to slap tariff under a ‘Section 232’ on EU but then the EU has immediately responded back confirming that it will retaliate with its own set of additional tariffs and duties. France has already come under pressure and has agreed to suspend a 3% digital tax on U.S. tech companies in exchange for Washington holding off on the threat.

The US indicated imposing tariffs of up to 100% on a $2.4 billion list of French imports. European wines are also under an imposed of 25% along with other goods, and a 10% tariff on aircraft. Trump has also threatened to raise those tariffs and expand the list of affected products if the subsidy issue is not resolved.

The United States eliminated India’s special trade status under the Generalized System of Preferences in June, affecting some $5.6 billion worth of Indian exports to the United States, amid a dispute over India’s new digital trade restrictions.
