US President Donald Trump through his tweet has urged Chinese President Xi Jinping to meet directly and personally with the protestors in Hong Kong. He said President Xi could end the Hong Kong problem.

“I know President Xi of China very well. He is a great leader who very much has the respect of his people. He is also a good man in a “tough business.” I have ZERO doubt that if President Xi wants to quickly and humanely solve the Hong Kong problem, he can do it. Personal meeting?” Trump tweeted.

It’s been 10 weeks since Hong Kong citizens are protesting against the government for a bill that would have allowed extraditions from Hong Kong to mainland China.

On Thursday, the Chinese ambassador to the UK warned that Beijing would interrupt in Hong Kong if the situation worsened further. He said the territory was facing its most critical situation since it was handed back from the UK to China in 1997.

Donald Trump also tied the protests to a US trade deal with Beijing, in the face of trade tensions.

“Of course China wants to make a deal. Let them work humanely with Hong Kong first!” he tweeted.
