Ukrainian President Wants Things Peaceful With US and Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is going to meet with US President Donald Trump in September. Will this discussion as to why Trump withheld the $250 million worth military aid, is something which the President has not disclosed.

There is no denying of a political angle in Trump’s withholding the aid. The Congress approved sum withheld could just be his tactic to put pressure on the Ukrainian government to support Trump’s re-election campaign by launching an investigation into one of his main rivals in the 2020 U.S. elections.

Ukraine has been braving a fight over Crimea which was annexed by Russia despite Ukraine having proven that it was not a part of the Russian territory.

A war has been in motion since February 2016 and continues still for which Ukraine has been receiving military form of support from the US.

Substantiating on America’s role in the whole scheme of things, Orysia Lutsevych, manager of Chatham House’s Ukraine Forum has said in the media that “since war broke out in 2014 in the country’s eastern reaches, Ukrainian forces fighting Russian-backed separatists have been able to achieve a stalemate because of U.S. military assistance.” Now, he has a way of giving a warning saying that if the U.S. withdraws itself, the conflict “could tilt in Russia’s favor and lower the cost of the military campaign for them.”

Ukraine current president has the clear mandate of ending the war, and a recent exchange of prisoners at sea by both Ukraine and Russia has been seen as a first step to the peacemaking process.

That could be one reason for the peace talks between Ukraine, Russia, Germany and France to resolve the Donbass conflict that is also to take place in September itself. The actor turned politician Volodymyr Zelenskiy is a newly appointed leader from whom the nation has high hopes of coming out clean off this war situation. When asked about the potential deployment of peacekeepers to the Donbass region, Zelenskiy told at a conference today that he did not want the area to become like the breakaway Moldova region of Transdniestria, where Russian troops are permanently stationed.
