Venezuela’s pro-government legislature said that it will create a commission to discuss to hold 2020 legislative elections early, to reform the congress government.

The Constituent Assembly’s head, Diosdado Cabello, said there was no need to demobilize congress as it “didn’t work” and “had eliminated itself on its own.”

Cabello also said the commission would decide the time for the legislative elections as per the law, the constitution, and the political situation.

However, the disbanding of congress would lead to increase criticism of Nicolas Maduro in the international community and also affect Norway-brokered talks between the government and Guaido allies, that are meant to find a solution to Venezuela’s political stalemate. Cabello gave warning to the opposition to not go on vacation as the upcoming next month will going to be difficult for them.
